The NFL is returning to Brazil.On Wednesday, the league announced that it will play in São Paulo at Corinthians Arena, home to Brazilian soccer team SC Corinthians, on the Friday night of Week 1 of the 2025 regular season.
The Eagles defeated the Packers 34-29 in São Paulo on the second day of the 2024 season. The Los Angeles Chargers will serve as the designated home team for the game.
Their opponent, along with the game’s kickoff time on September 5, 2025, will be revealed when the full 2025 NFL schedule is disclosed this spring.
“It’s an honor to again represent the NFL on an international stage,” said Chargers President of Business Operations A.G. Spanos.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to help expand the game and bring the Chargers brand to millions of sports fans in Brazil and Latin America. Brazil is one of the world’s most vibrant, dynamic, and culturally diverse nations, and we look forward to experiencing the warmth and passion of its people during our visit.”
The Chargers have participated in three regular-season games internationally, including two in London and one in Mexico City.
In 2025, the NFL has confirmed games in Dublin, London, Berlin, and Madrid as part of its international schedule. Australia will host a game in 2026.
Brazil is a vital global market with over 36 million fans, making it the second-largest international fan base after Mexico, according to the NFL.
“We are proud to have hosted the first NFL game in Brazil, right here in our city. The NFL’s return in 2025 highlights São Paulo’s readiness for major events and visitors from all over the world,” said São Paulo Mayor Ricardo Nunes.
“With the growth of our entertainment calendar, we are creating thousands of direct and indirect jobs with each event. Last year, a single match generated an economic return of US$60 million, and we expect even greater success this year. Additionally, industries that serve visiting audiences, such as hotels, taxi drivers, app drivers, and the entire hospitality sector, will benefit significantly.”
Throughout the history of the league, 55 regular-season NFL games have been played internationally, with London, Munich, Frankfurt, São Paulo, Mexico City, and Toronto all having hosted games.
