It looks like there’s an opportunity for Darius Slay to return to the Detroit Lions. Adam Schefter reported that the Philadelphia Eagles are releasing Slay. If the Eagles designate him as a post-June 1 release, they will save $4.3 million against the cap.
Should the Detroit Lions Reacquire Darius Slay?
Darius Slay has made it clear that he isn’t ready to retire from the NFL, and he’s also expressed his love for Detroit. Currently, the Lions face a major decision regarding whether they will bring back Carlton Davis III. If they can’t secure him, it’s likely they’ll seriously consider Slay.
The idea of Slay finishing his career with the Lions, and potentially capturing a Super Bowl with the team where it all began, seems like an obvious choice. However, Lions GM Brad Holmes will make the moves he believes will strengthen his team. If Holmes believes Slay will improve the secondary, he’ll likely make it happen.
