The WNBA has fined Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese $1,000 for violating league media policies after she failed to attend a mandatory postgame interview following a June 1, 2024, game against the Indiana Fever. The Sky organization was also fined $5,000 for not ensuring player compliance with these policies.

The controversy stemmed from a flagrant foul committed by Reese during the game. Late in the third quarter, Reese attempted to block a shot by Fever guard Caitlin Clark but missed, instead striking Clark in the head. Initially called a common foul, the play was reviewed and upgraded to a flagrant-1 violation for unnecessary contact.

Reese defended her actions, describing the incident as “just a part of basketball,” and expressed frustration with the officiating. She stated, “I can’t control the refs… Y’all are probably going to play that clip like 20 times before Monday.

Despite the fines, Reese’s performance on the court remained strong, contributing 11 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists in the Sky’s 91–83 loss to the Fever.
