The Detroit Lions are gearing up for the 2024 NFL Draft, and with the scouting combine just around the corner, mock drafts are starting to heat up. In a recent pre-scouting combine NFL mock draft, the Lions landed not one, but two talented defensive linemen from the Southeastern Conference (SEC).

With the sixth overall pick, the Lions selected Bryan Bresee, the dominant defensive tackle from Clemson. Bresee is a physical freak, standing at 6’5″ and weighing 305 pounds. He’s a force to be reckoned with in the middle of the defensive line, with the strength and athleticism to occupy multiple blockers and still make plays in the backfield.

Bresee’s addition would be a massive boost to the Lions’ defensive line, which has been a weakness in recent years. He would pair nicely with last year’s second-round pick, James Houston, to form a formidable defensive front.

But the Lions weren’t done yet. With their second-round pick (38th overall), they selected Zacch Pickens, the athletic defensive tackle from South Carolina. Pickens is a bit of a sleeper prospect, but he has all the physical tools to be a dominant force in the NFL.

At 6’4″ and 290 pounds, Pickens has the quickness and agility to play both defensive tackle and defensive end. He’s a high-motor player who is always around the ball, and his addition would give the Lions a much-needed boost of athleticism on the defensive line.

The selection of Bresee and Pickens would be a dream come true for Lions fans, who have been clamoring for defensive line help for years. With these two talented prospects, the Lions would finally have the pieces in place to build a dominant defensive front.

Of course, this is just one mock draft, and the actual draft could play out in countless different ways. But if the Lions were able to land Bresee and Pickens, they would be getting two of the most talented defensive linemen in the draft.

The scouting combine is just the beginning of the draft process, and there’s still a lot to learn about this year’s prospects. But one thing is clear: the Detroit Lions are in desperate need of defensive line help, and Bryan Bresee and Zacch Pickens would be a great place to start.

As the draft approaches, Lions fans will be keeping a close eye on Bresee and Pickens, hoping that they’ll be the ones to help turn around the team’s fortunes. With their impressive physical skills and dominant play, these two SEC defensive linemen would be a great addition to the Lions’ roster.
