Re-signing Priorities for the Detroit Lions – Key Free Agents to Bring Back

With just under three weeks to go until the new league year begins, free agency is quickly approaching. To properly assess free agency, the first step is to evaluate the talent you already know and trust before considering any new players. The Detroit Lions have a number of key players entering free agency, prompting the important question: who is worth re-signing?

In this episode of the Pride of Detroit PODcast, we analyze the major decisions the Lions will need to make, likely before the new league year starts. Some of the key topics include:

What kind of contract will Carlton Davis command, and is he a better option than other alternatives available in free agency?

Are there any viable options for a SAM linebacker beyond Derrick Barnes? Is the solution to be found in the draft, or should the Lions consider bringing him back?

Should the team re-sign Tim Patrick, or is it better to let him leave?

Tough choices loom for Levi Onwuzurike and Ifeatu Melifonwu, both playing important positions but with concerns over their roles and injury histories.

The Lions must also address the EDGE position, with Marcus Davenport and Za’Darius Smith potentially in play if a major trade doesn’t occur.

Additionally, we dive into potential changes within the offensive coaching staff, as that situation remains unresolved.
