BREAKING: Luka Bogavac Commits to UNC Basketball
In a significant development for the University of North Carolina (UNC) men’s basketball program, 6’5″ Montenegrin wing Luka Bogavac has officially committed to the Tar Heels. The announcement adds a seasoned international talent to Coach Hubert Davis’s roster.
Bogavac, 21, has honed his skills in the Adriatic Basketball Association (ABA) over the past four years. During the 2024–25 season with SC Derby, he averaged 14.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game, showcasing his scoring prowess and versatility on the court. Notably, he converted 39.9% of his three-point attempts, indicating a reliable outside shooting ability .
Prior to his tenure at SC Derby, Bogavac played for KK Mega Basket in Serbia, where he was part of the team that won the 2021 ABA U19 League title. His international experience extends to representing Montenegro in various competitions, including the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament, where he averaged 7.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2 assists per game .
Bogavac’s commitment is particularly timely for UNC, as the team seeks to fill the void left by the departure of wing player Drake Powell. His addition is expected to enhance the Tar Heels’ perimeter scoring and overall depth, providing Coach Davis with a seasoned option in the backcourt.
As UNC prepares for the upcoming season, Bogavac’s blend of international experience and scoring ability positions him as a valuable asset to the team’s aspirations.
