TULSA, Oklahoma. (AP) — A Kansas City Chiefs superfan identified as “ChiefsAholic” received a 32-year prison sentence in an Oklahoma court on Monday for robbing a bank in the Tulsa region, a sentence that will begin once he completes his federal prison term.
Xaviar Babudar, 30, stood before a Tulsa court and expressed remorse to the court and to the victims of the December 2022 heist at the Tulsa Teachers Credit Union in Bixby, Oklahoma, according to Babudar’s lawyer, Jay-Michael Swab.
“He conveyed genuine regret and accepted complete accountability for his behavior,” said Swab.
Babudar had already spent over 17 years in federal prison for a series of 11 bank heists across seven states, during which he took nearly $850,000 to support his rise to social media fame. Swab stated that the thefts were also caused by a gambling habit.
Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler aimed for a life sentence for Babudar.
“He is a repeat robber who has traumatized these victims and many others throughout this nation,” Kunzweiler stated in a statement.
Tulsa County District Judge Michelle Keely mandated that Babudar’s 32-year sentence be served concurrently with his federal sentence, meaning he will be moved to state custody to complete his remaining 14 years after his release from federal prison.
Babudar gained a fan base on his @ChiefsAholic profile on the social platform X by going to games wearing wolf attire in Chiefs apparel. His enthusiastic backing of the Chiefs gained widespread attention on social media.
