Xavion Staton was one of the best rim protectors in the 2025 cycle. He’s still raw as a player. But he’s got a chance to develop into a role right away in BYU’s rotation.

Richie Saunders
Will Egor Demin return next season? A question that popped up after Demin left the door open for a possible return after the loss to Alabama in the Sweet 16. If he goes into the NBA draft process, he will be a first-round draft pick. But will he be the top 10 pick everyone thought would be a guarantee early in his freshman season?
Conversely, the 2026 draft class is expected to be an all-time class. Does that weigh into Demin’s thoughts?
But if he runs it back at BYU, he would be playing alongside future pros with AJ Dybantsa and Richie Saunders.
Speaking of Saunders, he has a decision to make as well.
Saunders has worked his way into potentially being a high-end second-round draft pick in the 2025 class. Yahoo! Sports’ Kevin O’Connor has Saunders being selected at pick number 35 in the NBA draft.
Saunders was an elite three-point shooter this past season, and it didn’t sacrifice the effort he brings on the defensive end. At the same time, could Saunders elevate his stock into a first-round pick if he has a big senior year next season alongside Dybantsa?
Dybantsa said a tandem between him and Saunders would be “something special” if it came together.
Bringing back Saunders and Demin would be bigger than any prospect BYU could land out of the transfer portal.
