Kelce concurred with his brother Jason that he traveled to London “for love” — meaning Swift.
Travis Kelce is reminiscing about his Eras Tour performance with his girlfriend Taylor Swift in London last year.
During the episode of Kelce’s New Heights podcast on Wednesday, May 14, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end described the experience as “unforgettable,” alongside his brother Jason Kelce.
“I’ll always remember standing on a stage before what seemed like a million people,” Kelce, 35, reflected on joining Swift, also 35, at Wembley Stadium.
Kelce’s nostalgic comment followed his brother Jason, 37, asking “what brought” him to London previously. “Could it have been love?” Jason made a joke with his brother.
The Kansas City Chiefs star stunned Swifties with a surprise appearance on stage during Swift’s third performance at Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday, June 23, as part of the Eras Tour.
Kelce wore a tux and top hat and accompanied Swift during her outfit change for “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” — a transition the “Bad Blood” singer first unveiled when she started adding The Tortured Poets Department album to the tour.
During the performance, Kelce took the place of a dancer who typically lifts Swift during the transition and transports her to a red velvet couch at center stage. Kelce was beaming from ear to ear when he was announced as the unexpected guest, prompting the Wembley Stadium crowd to erupt in cheers.
Kelce later disclosed that it was his suggestion to join Swift on stage, stating on the New Heights podcast last year that he casually brought it up to his girlfriend, who first chuckled at the notion before inquiring of her NFL boyfriend, “’Would you really consider doing something like that?’ ”
“I thought to myself, ‘What?” I would be thrilled to do that, are you joking? “I’ve watched the show plenty — might as well get me involved here,” Kelce stated. “And indeed, she discovered the ideal moment in the show for me to join in.”
In the same episode from last July, Kelce referred to it as an “honor” to perform alongside Swift during the Eras Tour.
“It was incredibly fun,” Kelce stated. “It was an enjoyable, lively segment of the performance, and it felt like … the ideal moment for me to step up there, just be a show-off and have a good time — not only with [Swift]… but the audience and truly aim to pump everyone up for the remainder of the show.” It was amazing.
